Selling Broker

Get the most value out of your vessel with our experienced brokers.

Why choose us as your selling broker?

Selling things is easy, right? Listing thing on a Marketplace App with a few pictures and the price is an easy way to get items out in front of others.

Now imagine selling a house the same way. Would you ever do it? Many equate buying and selling a boat to shopping for a car, even though investment and risk wise a vessel is more akin to a home. In fact many people chose to live on their boats instead of homes on land. There are many variables to consider when trying to sell a boat, just like there are with selling a house. Why should we be your selling broker? What makes US different???

While all brokers will have similar access to listing services and sold vessel data, many lack the additional marine knowledge to market the vessel to the right demographic . Our unique experience, knowledge, and approach give us the edge over other brokers in the industry, which translates in better representation to you and ultimately a greater value for your vessel.

Our Experience and Knowledge

We are USCG Licensed Captains with experience sailing the waters of both Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, the Mediterranean Sea, the Great Lakes, and the Caribbean Islands, in all weather conditions. We each have thousands of nautical miles of experience operating various types of vessels which gives us the real world knowledge on what your vessel is capable of and how to showcase those abilities in a listing.

We are ABYC Certified Electricians and Marine Electronics Installers, with developed relationships with manufacturers and vendors that offer their products directly to us at lower prices. While our Online Store provides great savings, when working with our brokerage clients we can often offer even better deals and often times great discounts on installs. As captains, we know and understand what equipment is crucial for safe and effective operation of a vessel, and what improvements will give you greatest ROI.

We are engineers, economists, and business leaders before turning our passion for the sea and boating into a profession. We have successfully translated the lessons learned in our previous careers on how to present our products in the best light possible to the potential buyers. We listen to the market indicators, and predict market trends that can directly translate to presenting and staging your vessel in the way that will sell at greatest value to you.

Finally, because of our reputation and expertise, we have developed relationships with marinas, boat yards, and other marine professionals that can help us address any deficiencies your vessel might have at a fraction of the cost that would be available to the general public.

Our Approach

Our approach is based on years of experience as captains and yacht owners, servicing our and our clients vessels.

  1.  Our approach starts with an extensive assessment of your vessel. We will inspect every area of the boat, from the driving gears, , the steering system, navigation and electronics, to the sanitation system, the electrical components, the hull and gelcoat, and many others.
  2. After the initial assessment we will conduct a sea trial, where we put the vessel through the paces and ensure that it is capable of passing the survey without fail. If there are any issues, we will note them and troubleshoot to understand the root cause.
  3. We will sample the engine, transmission, and generator fluids and send them for analysis. This is the same testing that is completed during the marine surveys, providing us with the insight on what the internal condition of the engines might be.
  4. Once the fluid analysis comes back, generally 2-4 business days, we will compile a vessel condition and valuation report. The report will contain similar information to a survey, with our main focus being on the condition of the vessel and any major issues which significantly impact value and saleability of the vessel. The report will also contain the list of recently sold boats similar to your vessel with an estimated value and expected time on market before sale.

Once the pricing of the vessel is agreed, and the condition of the boat is satisfactory, we will advise you to remove any personal items off the boat and we will advise that the vessel be detailed internally and externally if necessary. This ensures that the vessel is ready to be showcased in its best light, with the potential buyers able to imagine making the space their own.

We hold ourselves to highest standards, and we ensure that every vessel we buy and sell for our clients meets or exceeds those standards. This is what we believe is the key to The 3 Captains difference, and what makes us one of the best in the business.
